Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with results so bad.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
