Dame Helen Mirren Set to Receive Globes' Cecil B DeMille Award.

The distinguished English actor Mirren, already holder of an Oscar statuette, four Baftas, three Golden Globes, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, is set to receive another major award to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' lifetime achievement award.

Ceremony Details

Dame Helen, eighty, formerly honored as a dame in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in the year 2014, will receive the accolade during a presentation on the eighth of January, three days before the primary Globes ceremony are held, within an event billed by the Globes as the Golden Eve event.

Additionally featuring the awarding of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for small-screen contributions, the honoree for which has yet to be announced. Last year’s winners were Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is a force of nature, with a career is absolutely extraordinary,” said the Golden Globes president, Helen Hoehne. “Her transcendent performances and devotion to her art persistently influence countless performers and fans too. It’s a tremendous privilege to award her this lifetime achievement honor.”

Professional Journey

The star gained prominence during the seventies with key roles on stage in the West End of London and with the RSC and in cinematic works like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her prominent part in detective drama Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase further. Other key films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She won an Oscar for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a role she revisited in 2013 for The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan concerning the sessions involving the monarch and prime minister Margaret Thatcher, a performance for which she received a Tony Award back in 2015.

Golden Globe nods will be announced on 8 December, with the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
