Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.

  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
