Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the attack made him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
